Our Learning Tower, also known as a Kitchen Helper, gives your little one a safe, sturdy place to be part of everyday family life.

Originally designed by Grandpa Pete in 2014 for his first grandson, Levi.  This timeless design has now been handcrafted more than 500 times for families across South Africa. Along the way, we've listened to parents, refined the details, and watched hundreds of children grow up using the very same tower. It's a design we're incredibly proud of, and one that continues to be handed down from siblings to cousins and on to the next generation of little helpers.

Over 500 Learning Towers have left our workshop since 2014. We like to think they've been part of hundreds of thousands of everyday family moments since then. From baking birthday cakes and washing little hands to helping with dinner, brushing teeth before bed, and simply being part of family life, each one is designed to help children feel included in the moments that matter most.

Built from solid pine with a robust 18 mm pine plywood platform and step, and finished using durable, child-safe water-based coatings, our Learning Tower is made to handle years of everyday family life.

Whether they're helping prepare dinner, brushing their teeth, washing hands at the basin, or simply wanting a better view of what's happening on the kitchen counter, our Learning Tower (or Kitchen Helper, as many families know it) helps children participate safely while building confidence and independence.

For families wanting even more versatility, you can also add our matching Learning Tower Seat. It slips neatly onto the tower to create a comfortable place for meals, colouring, crafts, or baking, while also giving younger toddlers an extra step as they learn to climb into the tower independently.

Complete your Learning Tower with our matching Add-On Seat. It creates a comfortable place for meals, crafts, colouring or helping with baking at the counter, while also providing an extra step for younger toddlers as they learn to climb into the Learning Tower independently.

For our Varnish + Painted finish, the Add-On Seat is finished in varnish to echo the step, platform, and handle, creating a balanced look that celebrates the beauty of the natural timber.

Suitable from approximately 11 months to 7 years+

The adjustable platform offers two height settings, allowing the Learning Tower to grow with your child. Once your little one's hips reach counter height, simply lower the platform to the second position to provide several more years of comfortable use in the kitchen.

Child-Safe Finish

Every Learning Tower is fully sealed before leaving our workshop. We never leave exposed raw timber.

Choose from:

• Water-based clear varnish
• Water-based painted finish
• Combination varnish and painted finish

All finishes are child-safe once fully cured and designed for everyday family life.

Assembly

Where possible, Learning Towers delivered within approximately 5 km of our Fish Hoek workshop are delivered fully assembled.

For the rest of South Africa, your Learning Tower arrives as a flat pack with:

• All required hardware
• Simple assembly instructions

Assembly is straightforward and typically takes around 20–30 minutes.

Strength & Stability

Built with a strong, solid timber frame and a broad, stable base, our Learning Tower is designed to handle everyday family life.

Many families comfortably use the tower with siblings taking turns, making it a piece that's built to last for years rather than months.

Care

Finished with durable water-based coatings, the Learning Tower is designed to be wiped clean after everyday spills and messy play.

Simply wipe with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild household detergent as needed.

Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, and dry any excess moisture after cleaning.
