At 1.2m wide, our Double Mud Kitchen gives siblings and friends plenty of space to play side by side, with two removable stainless steel bowls, dual wooden stovetops, generous storage and the option to add one or two real working taps.

Handmade in our Cape Town workshop from H3-treated South African pine and finished with ProNature Outdoor Wood Sealer, it’s built for real outdoor play and all the mud, water, sand, and potions that come with it.

Built for Real Outdoor Play

We don’t simply make an indoor play kitchen and call it an outdoor one. Our Mud Kitchens are made from H3-treated South African pine, specifically treated for outdoor use, and finished with ProNature Outdoor Wood Sealer, a locally made, natural, plant-based finish that helps protect the timber outdoors.

Strong, sturdy and made for life outside, it’s a proper piece of wooden outdoor play furniture designed for years of adventures.

Plenty of Room to Play Together

Two stainless steel bowls and a generous work surface give siblings and friends room to brew potions, make mud pies, mix sensory creations and invent games together.

Open-ended play means there is no single way to use a Mud Kitchen. Today it might be a café, tomorrow a potion laboratory and next week a garden kitchen filled with leaves, flowers, sand and water.

Stainless Steel Bowls and Dual Stovetops

Two removable, easy-to-clean stainless steel bowls sit alongside dual wooden stovetops with chunky wooden knobs. There is plenty of room for pouring, stirring, scooping and imaginative cooking, all at a child-friendly height.

Yes, They’re Real Working Taps

Add one or two working taps and connect them directly to a standard garden hose for real water play.

Perfect for pouring potions, filling bowls, washing dishes, experimenting with water and creating the inevitable puddles that come with a good afternoon outside.

Each tap comes with plumber’s tape and a hosepipe connector fitting to help you get set up.

Optional Removable Chalkboards

Add one or two chalkboards for café menus, recipes, drawings or very important potion notes.

Each chalkboard hangs from the utensil hooks, so it can easily be moved or removed as play changes.

The generous size and open-ended design also make our Double Mud Kitchen a popular choice for preschools, playschools and early primary environments across South Africa.

It creates a natural space for sensory exploration, collaborative play and hands-on learning, making it particularly well-suited to Montessori-, Waldorf- and Reggio-inspired environments.

Handmade in Cape Town

Every Mud Kitchen is made by our small team in our Cape Town workshop. We cut, build, sand and finish each one ourselves, right down to the wooden stovetops and chunky knobs.

It takes a little longer than pulling one from a warehouse shelf. We think that’s rather the point.

Made for Life Outside

Yes, your Mud Kitchen can live outdoors. We use H3 treated pine and ProNature Outdoor Wood Sealer specifically because our Mud Kitchens are designed for outdoor play.

Like any quality wooden garden furniture, a little ongoing care will help protect the timber and keep it looking its best for years. Keeping it undercover where possible will always extend the life of the finish, but it isn’t essential.

Simple Setup

The base of your Mud Kitchen arrives fully assembled. Simply position the backboard, line up the pre-drilled holes and secure it using the screws provided.

Then it’s ready for play.

Optional Extras

Working Tap Add-Ons

Choose one or two taps to bring real water into their play. Each tap connects to a standard garden hose and comes with plumber’s tape and a hosepipe connector fitting.

Removable Chalkboard Add-Ons

Choose one or two removable chalkboards for recipes, café menus, drawings and potion experiments. They hang neatly from the utensil hooks and can be moved or removed in seconds.

Each Mud Kitchen is carefully packed to help it arrive safely and ready for play.
